Writing that someone is lying with no evidence is libellous, so not being overly dramatic at all.
jim360 - // Writing that someone is lying with no evidence is libellous, so not being overly dramatic at all. //

It may well be, but that's not what Naomi wrote.

She prefaced her opinion with the vital codicil 'maybe', which is the equivalent of using the word 'allegedly' used by television satirists for decades.
Jim, in response to another poster’s // //there was insufficient evidence to convict // ….

I said, //Maybe because she was lying.....//

Maybe.

I've clearly upset you today. Oh well. :o)
I'm sure it's a useful cop-out but I don't believe it should cover anyone's backside, least of all someone who is, after all, not usually afraid to express herself strongly.
Jim, I've said what I meant - as always. Stop digging. It's silly.
jim - // I'm sure it's a useful cop-out but I don't believe it should cover anyone's backside, least of all someone who is, after all, not usually afraid to express herself strongly. //

I am not sure where you think a 'cop out' has occurred here, much less where anyone's 'backside' is being covered.

I am not covering anything - I simply pointed out the crucial inaccuracy in your post, you quoted something as being libellous when it was not what was written.

That's not covering any part of Naomi, merely addressing the facts.
Thank you andy-hughes.
//it's worth noting that consent can carry on up to the moment that any participant withdraws it...//

Jim puts things so very well, doesn't he?
She went to the barracks with the intent of sleeping with one of the hockey players, so consent is presumed in his case.
She says she awoke to find several other men committing sex acts on her. That activity was not invited and consent not given.
I suspect that the case has been thrown out because the sexual activity wasn’t proved to be intercourse.
I also suspect that a lot of alcohol had been consumed by all parties, making sense of the scenario, more difficult.
