When someone comments on a TV Soap being unrealistic and some other bright spark comes up with the gem,'It's not real you know!'

Predictive text, another curse.

There, their, they're, we mustn't get upset.
I'm quite happy with "nearly unique", as there may be only two in existence. What bugs me is "very unique" and, in particular, "Very true".
Don't have that many pet hates, as such, but one thing guaranteed to have me shouting at my tv is, when a contestant answers a question incorrectly on a quiz show, the presenter says "Good guess, but not the right answer." If it's not the correct answer, then, immho, it is a bad guess. That Mulhern chap is one of the worst for it.
I read the OP as referring to AB posts, so:

~ those who sit on the fence with the majority of their replies
~ those whose only contribution is to submit a reference to a parallel
post
~ those who do not practise as they preach
~ those who hide sheer bully tactics under the guise of 'debate'
~ those who post interminable quotes from previous answers
~ those who cannot apologise and those who cannot accept
an apology
I just ignore that comment and treat it with the contempt it deserves !
And after having read through all the other posts, I agree with those who can't stand people saying 'should of' instead of 'should have', but it happens all the time nowadays ..
so um .... should of been banned then?

My point is that most words, especially adjectives, do not have one precise, definitive, even unique, meaning.

yeah like when Trump got his 'not's in a knot
He didnt not discuss with Putin something .....

yeah and people were quipping that "Lock her up" had the same Trump meaning as "Dont lock her up!"

( er almost the same meaning see?)
When somebody says that something is "for free" really bugs me. Why not just say it's free? When did the "for" creep into the statement?
