Hi all. I am going away for a long weekend in Rome at the end of September. Can anyone reccomend either a guest house or hotel in the city with good prices and facilities. TIA

I stayed at the Hotel Forum back in May - it was fantastic. Admittedly the hotel decor is a bit faded, but the staff are really excellent, and it's short walking distance to most of the visitor attractions.
It's also got a good rooftop restaurant and a very cool bar up on the top of the building that let you enjoy a cocktail with a beautiful Roman sunset.

I would recommend a little research on the tripadvisor website

Just type 'Rome' into the search box to get an unbiased listing of all hotels.
I'm not sure I can wholehearted recommend any of the hotels I've used, as they are at the upper end of the price scale, however, I found that choosing a location close to the 'Spanish Steps' can be very useful, as much of the sightseeing is then within walking distance, hence not being dependent on, or paying for, public transport or taxis.
