Deleting And Reinstalling Whatsapp

Having problems on my Samsung phone with WhatsApp.. Voice calls don't come through, getting alerts but no all messages come through. If I delete and reinstall, will I lose all my messages?

I don't think so. I reinstalled a while ago and think I lost nothing. But worth copying/backing up the data file just in case. I did, can't recall if I needed it.

This should help when re-installing WhatsApp ..
Before you delete WhatsApp from your phone, you can use the Chat Backup feature to back up your messages.

To reinstall WhatsApp: Touch and hold the WhatsApp icon on the Home Screen until the icons start to wiggle. Tap the x in the corner of the WhatsApp icon. Tap Delete to remove the application and all of its data.

I am trying to back up now, fingers crossed. So when I delete and reinstall, will my messages show automatically on the new install? Thanks all, sorry I am not technic,ally minded at all ... It has to be easy!!
