Not really serious questions, just some idle musing based on two events yesterday.
Firstly while driving in an unfamiliar area I came across one of those "New road layout ahead" signs - they seem to stay in place an inordinately long time in areas I know.
Secondly, when a store assistant told me an item I was after was out of stock, upon my further enquiry she told me they were expecting a delivery "later". Then yet further enquiry on my part revealed that later meant 5 days later.
It took me a long time to get used to what some Brits mean by 'later'. To me it meant within the next few hours...to them it seemed to mean 'whenever. Drove me nuts.
