Apologies, didn't make it clear. There are a series of even numbered clues (this is the last). The odd numbered answers are the ones entered into the diagram and are not clued, but the whole series forms "ladder" words (all 6 letters) where each successive answer changes one letter - anagrammed into another word. The answer I am seeking is the central one to the following sequence:
RETAIN, ??N??? (unclued), clue given (no letters), ?????M (unclued), TUMORS.
