Just renewed a passport for boy #2 and the passport office now have ‘mother or parent 1’ and ‘father or parent 2’ for the relevant sections. I’m not bothered how they refer to me but I know this has been discussed on here.

Father (parent 1) Mother (parent 2) because frankly I've got better things to do than nitpick about injustices that aren't real, yet the reverse offends you. The only preconception here is yours when you assume ( because it suits your own agenda and way of thinking) that men are someone being hard done by all the time. They aren't, by and large. Your above comment may be on topic of the thread, but the whole thing was personally aimed at me and how i think. Thought you didn't care? Try to avoid doing that, it makes the comment rather moot to other reading the thread.

In this situation i don't think anyone is being hard done by. Especially not men. The parent 1/2 thing is obviously for same sex couples, which again, makes me think who has the right to be 1 or 2.

Imagine this.. Two ladies in a relationship wish to have a kid, one lady gets a sperm donor and becomes pregnant but both ladies agreed.

Should the childs biological mother be parent 1, or 2? Why, why not?

It just brings up other issues and statuses people don't want.

The status of being a man, the status of being a woman, the status of being one or two.

Well obviously my opinion is more important than yours ('cos I'm a woman ;-)

Because if your son lives with you he's part of the same financial household, which isn't the same as having parental responsibility in terms of children getting passports.

I think for Uni funding though the parental home income is assessed unless you are estranged- I might be wrong but I think so x
