I prefer to think that alien visitors have no visible form at all, and move among us at will. It seems unlikely, though possible that visitors have come here. Maybe they communicate by smell, or colours, or are bacteria-sized, or maybe they took a look at a Robert Kilroy-Silk show and decided to try elsewhere - the possibilities are endless. If you do find out, tell us won't you?
There probably is life "out there", given the billions of stars out there (and quite a high proportion of these seem to have planets). But as for whether aliens have ever visited, almost certainly not - unless our scientific theories are completely wrong, the energy requirements are simply astronomical. And if they had, they almost certainly wouldn't swoop down to pick up lone nutters in Western America and sod off again.
