Have to say Panasonic after having this one for over ten yrs and ....shhhh ....still going. Depends what you want, ours has to have headphone socket with choice of headphones and or sound on set. Cannot fault it... I hope it didn't hear me....but it's brill. Will loathe the time it comes to look for another...
The very latest Which? (March) has a huge test on TVs....most of the Best Buys are Samsung and LG....with the odd Sony and Panasonic also. Avoid bargain-priced unknown names available in supermarkets (if you want anything decent)- usually a waste of money.
Ginge....we bought at Asda for a second TV a Polaroid tv....for another room. It's lovely for. Second set...beautiful picture cannot fault it, it's down to choice and at least Asda will refund or change set in the first year....for no extra cost.
If you can afford an OLED TV then go and have a look at some in a shop who will demonstrate them properly (like Richer Sounds - not Currys) - once you've seen the quality of the picture you'll never be happy with anything else - so bright and clear and detailed.
Ginge you are right I wouldn't buy over Panasonic.... But for a second tv we find it's good and picture quality brilliant. Just adding my experience to the mix mate !
My old LG Plasma is still going strong with its new owner at 12 years plus - the new LG smart one has all kinds of toys and lets me wirelessly project my laptop to the TV.
I've got all Panasnic and Samsung and partner has all Sony barring one really old Panasonic that must have come out of the ark, so on that basis gotta be Panasonic really, although the Sonys are lovely :) x
