The price of stamps is due to rise on 25 March, but the price of second class mail is capped until 1 April.
I haven't seen a stamp machine for years, and many people will stock up in advance anyway because the design will not change and old stamps will still be valid.
Why not delay the price rise for a week? What am I missing?
Couldn't they at least have made it 60p and 70p? 61p for a 2nd class stamp is daft, and a large envelope with documents I occasionally have to send first class is £1.01. Who makes these decisions, I wonder.
I use many stamps for cards and returning quiz sheets. I buy mine in bulk from Philatelink, a company in Glasgow. Brilliant service, express delivery and cheaper prices. Only buy stamps marked 1st or 2nd class, they can be used forever, what ever the cost in the future.
I don't know why we have this silly two tier postal system.
I don't why they don't just set a flat rate for inland post for letters and cards. And don't get me started on the ridiculous size and thickness measurement requirements!
I use quite a lot of stamps so will stock up.I still write letters and send cards to people.
Georgiesmum I'm lucky enough to live in house like that. The letter box is at the bottom of our drive so I don't have to go far to post things.
I've still got several books of 1st and 2nd class stamps. I probably paid about 30p per stamp for them, I've had them a while now... funny they've got Queen Victoria's head on them.
I've been waiting for them to get wise and start putting the price on stamps as in the past. I will stock up as usual but will cut back more on who I send to. I still have older friends who do not have a computer so a letter is needed and also birthday and Christmas cards.
