Dear Mrs Ed,
Would you please provide me with a cyber Uzi 9mm and turn a blind eye for a day so that I could clear out some of the undesirables on here.

For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ.good morning cobra et al, I tell u what, yours is a good plan, slightly radical but ultimately it would prove effective. I found the B&S experience last night at the best crazy and at the worst simple minded. I tried to inject some irony into the situation by creating a doppelganger to highlight the absurdity of it all and the entire escapade went straight over every-one's bonce! They're too clever for me I tell thee! It is a case of the more recently joined ABer feelng they have a guardianship role to play over the particular category. In fact, those that shout the loudest seem to be the ones contributing the least in genuine content terms. Looking back at the Chatterbank category, yes it was ostensibly drivel and yes we would fight and argue, and yes it got out of hand, but I think there was also a sense of hitting a boundary, which was overstepped by some and that created the headaches.
There is little chance of a similar category re-emerging from the vaults of the ole AB, but that will have to be accepted I think, with some good grace. I use many of the categories and can I say on a personal level, there is room to be as chatty as necessary in all of them.
Wooo Hoooo I neeed to do a part two post!!!!!!!!! Posh or wot

part -two (blimey)
The persistent idea that a question on any topic should be posted in B&S because there is : 'more traffic in here' is really annoying me, there is an option to report a question for incorrect category, we should use it, the question will get moved.
There is a report option for an irrelevant answer/chat, we can all use it, why do people think that reporting a question for a valid reason, as opposed to devilment, a crime? The site has given us that option, and the likes of jno is constantly having to remind people it is there. The reported questions are not always removed or edited immediately, they are flagged to be brought to the attention of the editorial team (aka The ed and a nother) but at least we would then be using the site as it is intended, instead of continually posting threads about those questions we do not like, for whatever reason.
We all stretch the limits in B&S, myself as much if not more than many others, but we will all have to realise we are not the guardians and we can be as good or as bad as each other depending on our mindset at a particular time. We are supposedly adults using our own power, money, equipment and brains (i use the term advisedly) on here, and no one can force us to compromise or conform, but if we all were more individual rather than pack-like, i think the site would appear less clique orientated and more open and friendly.
I just enjoy the site, it is rare that I analyse it in this way, but I have time on my hands today.
Oh and Cobra, don't point that thing at me it may go off.

I can just imagine him scrambling up the AB artificial rocks in Home and graden's waterfall with a torn tarpaulin leashed around him and a pice of ripped hanky round his head, diving for cover when the AB helicopter swoops up out of the Motoring section and rains down cyber missiles from the IT section.
Dot, reporting questions and answers is definitely the right way to go about things. However, as has been discussed before, some people could report and report and report because they feel what they're reading goes against the Site Rules, yet others would challenge those thoughts and just call those people petty. So who's to say whose opinion is right? Then, as we saw recently, people can get 'told off' for reporting too much and upsetting users who get suspended and their threads temporarily removed because of their over-zealous reporting.
My opinion is if there's a report option and you feel what you're reading deserves to be reported, then you should be allowed to report it, without fear of being damned for doing so. I rarely report these days because of that very reason.
