Hi, I'm heading up a team who are redesigning my company's intranet. I was wondering if any of you have any quirky ideas of cool features to add to our intranet? Perhaps your intranet in your company has some interesting features?
Why not try a radical idea? Speak to the people who will be using the intranet and find out what they need it to do to support the business.
Three suggestions:
- Well organised, project-specific document stores where all the docs and reports can be stored and retrieved.
- Up-to-date copies of all procedure manuals.
- Searchable database of all minutes, notices and reports.
When the business users are satisfied that you've got thet working, then you can think about bells and whistles.
Our place uses an alphabetical list as the first page you see and then users choose from the list under which section they need to look for suff.
Some stuff can then be stored under more that one heading but the link will point to the same place.
e.g. Personnel Data can be stord under the P section and the D section.
