Yes, those who answered my original post were correct. It was the expansion vessel which needed re-pressurising......so thank you.

Strange was that the plumber who came to fix it was taller than Dave......and that doesn't happen often.....Dave looking up to speak to someone.......

I felt like a tiny Leprechaun with a now cricked neck....... and one slightly dented light shade in the utility room..........:-(

gness bet you are glad to have heating back on with current weather. Even though its quite mild, temperature wise, wind has chilling effect.
