I watched a program about Anne Boleyn. Which showed her personal bible in which HenryVIII and she had written before Henry’s divorce from Cathrin of Aragon.
Think it’s kept at the British library.
Can Joe Public request to see books like this, or only academics and historians.
It has occasionally been featured in special exhibitions (e.g. in Paris in 2015) but it's normally only available to bona fide researchers. (Getting a reader's ticket to the British Library is far from easy. You have to be able to prove that you have a genuine need to access materials which can't be found anywhere else in the country).
Buenchico, maybe we're thinking of different things but getting a reader's ticket was easy peasy for me: fill in a form online, turn up, have a photo taken, handed a card. How far it would entitle me to rummage round Anne Boleyn's books I don't know but for looking at more modern commonplace (but rare) books, no trouble.
I used to go to the BL regularly over many years, but family history becoming so popular from around 1960 meant it was being flooded by people who really didn't need to be there. The last time I went I was quizzed in depth as to why I needed access to their collection.
