Just out of interest

If there were any niggling doubts in EDs mind about a poster on AB that appeared to be a bit dodgy what would or could they do.
There are a lot of article on the news recently relating to people pretending to be youngsters online to get to meet young girls and boys, grooming its called.
IF AB was concerned that there was a 'groomer' on AB could they or would they find ways to block this person from gaining access or would they have to continue to watch the poster whilst waiting for higher powers (ie the police) to take action.

Interesting question redcrx, I wonder how Ab Eds would know as we dont have to enter personal details when we register, like age etc, just an email.
I used to work with young women who had and were being groomed, and it is very subtle, and most times we found that the authorities were unable to intervene, as the perpetrator had not actually done anything criminally wrong. For it to stand up in Court and get any kind of result, the Police had to wait until enough evidence was gathered. I saw some very distressing results during these waits, and am no wiser of the protocol than you are.

jno, it is public. But then people still get others emails and details through the site. Ive seen email addresses and mobile numbers posted on here.
I am not suggesting that anyone is using it as such, was only wondering what would happen if AB suspected that it was being used by someone to get the details of youngsters or to pretend to be someone they are not to attract such young people. A groomer could posts their details up to see if anyone got in contact via their email or mobile and take it from there.

Hi redcrx
Yes, I've been following these stories. I believe the most recent case involved a 23 yr old male who frequented chat rooms and targetted young girls.
Thankfully, ABers are very astute and are good at reporting dodgy looking posts. We have not had any situation of this kind arise but we can assure you that we have ways to identify and report such activity to the proper authorities.
