Switching Energy Suppliers

Anyone here switched energy suppliers in recent times? If so, do you mind saying from what firm to what firm and whether you think it's been a genuinely good move or not?

Yes I moved from EDF to Octopus 2 months ago. I am saving £30 a month so far (gas and electric). I submit reading at the end of each month and they email me each month with a balance. Very easy to deal with. I'm very happy with it

I have changed suppliers quite a few times. I have now been with Bulb for about a year having previously been with British gas. I have saved money and I like the way they keep in touch monthly to let you see how much energy you are using. Their customer service is excellent - nice friendly people and I was even refunded £10 because I had had to wait more than 6 minutes to get a response when I rang them. Ps - and they've just put their prices down.

I switched to Octopus from E.ON last September. Can't say I've noticed my bill's gone down particularly (electric only, I'm not on mains gas) but I did get a free £50 deposit by clicking on a referral link (which they're still doing), & I've still got that as a credit on my bill.
I send them a reading on their website every month (which I could never be bothered to do with E.ON), it's so easy, & get an e-bill pretty much straightaway. Overall, I'm glad I switched, didn't like E.ON particularly (though can't actually remember why !).

I change suppliers whenever it is in my interest.

I use around the same amount of gas and leccy every year and doing a comparison is a piece of cake. Every year I've usually managed to find a supplier that is a good bit cheaper than the rest. I rarely stay with them for more than a year. By then their "hook 'em in" deal has usually disappeared so I look for another. This year I've switched to British Gas as their deal was around £220 cheaper than the next best. Like insurers, energy suppliers rely on customer apathy ("I can't be bothered to shop around"). they draw you in with a deal and hope you won't be bothered to change. The secret is to make sure you do.

yes, just switched from Eon to First Utility - at the suggestion of a guy on the phone at Energy Helpline. I've no idea how it will work out except that it should save me £500 a year.

This was following a letter I got from Eon saying that I could do better elsewhere.

Which really demonstrates the contempt in which the suppliers hold their customers.
