Probably less to unravel then. And a shorter time of change so reestablishing a previous state possibly less complex.

Today I hope most accept the realistic withdrawal would need more sorting of issues as they appear rather than waste resource planning for what turns out to be a red herring.
Surely not comparable. In 1975 we’d only been in the EEC for two years.
In opposition when Heath took us into the EEC, Wilson was against joining. After gaining power in 1974 and holding a referendum in 1975, the Labour leadership favoured favoured staying. But it was a free vote so many left wing Labour MPs, Tony Benn etc campaigned to leave.
The EU was not around then, it was a totally different beast.

#However, hats off to them if they were ready to go.
