My Microwave Has Just Died

I pressed the button to open the door and there was a noise and then it started up on its own with nothing on the timer - it's not supposed to do that.
I couldn't get it to stop and had to pull the plug on it.
I think that the door mechanism is broken - can that be fixed? I have a feeling that it would not be cost effective.
I will have to buy another one and I rather like this one https:/ /www.ar gos.co. uk/prod uct/702 2232 - would I have to worry about what surface type this should go on? I sometimes have mine on top of the freezer and sometimes on an old wooden unit.
I had to use something called a pot/pan to heat up my lunch. :-(

The microwave is a few years old - maybe 5 and was cheap to buy Phillips I think.
I use it daily for most of my main meals. Perhaps not so often since I bought my air-fryer.
I have a couple of pots/pans but they need to be watched when heating stuff up and I am very easily distracted and wander off. I managed to melt the handle off one relatively recently.
Decisions, decisions ...

the same thing happened to me Wolf a few weeks ago - after I opened and closed the door it kept going on round - then I smelt smoke - I quickly pulled out the plug and got rid.
I bought a wee greaty - back to basics - manual - love it and quite quick at 800w. Just looked at your link and you are looking at a combi - I bought one of those years ago and I only used the microwave bit.
Mine cost around £65.

gingejbee is right, the microwave in my original post was a combi and that was why I was worried about putting it on top of the freezer.
Anyway - Asda is visiting tomorrow with my cat litter and other feline stuff. Now they will be bringing me -

If nothing else it looks pretty. Only 700w but I should adapt to that. Heres hoping that it is in stock.
Thanks all
