The collective noun is in fact mongooses. Logic dictates that the plural of goose is geese, therefore the plural of mongoose would be mongeese, but language is not logical - mongooses is the plural.
Someone said "gaggle" to me (I presume due to the goose connection) but "pack" seems sufficient - it is possible that there is no formal collective noun other than the mundane.

Thanks, Andy, but I knew about the plural - it's the collective noun I'm after; a murmuration of starlings, a mob of kangaroos... a ? of mongooses. Thanks also rekstout.
