While donations have dropped this year, it is silly to blame one reason.
Donations have been dropping for several years. The record was set in 2011, and since then, donations have fallen each year. That was long before the white saviour row.
Charity donations nationally, and annually are falling. After nearly a decade of Phillip Hammonds’s austerity, people generally have less money, even for deserving causes.

maybe charity donations to the big fund raiser is dropping but we are now constantly being bombarded with charity requests every other advert on he tv. every shopping mall two or three letters a week national lotto / euro millions/ health lottery / peoples postcode .......
then people knocking on your door

I think the drop in numbers playing the Lottery is due to the number of available numbers being increased.

I doubt many of the 10 million viewers to Comic Relief have even heard of David Lammy, let alone were influence not to make donations because of something he said months ago.
Lammy is not really influential except to s small group of his constituents, and as a hate figure of the far right.

Several pages devoted to this in the newspaper.I did grimace over Ed Sheeran and his comments over the Homeless and his hypocrisy.

I'm not in the least surprised that the Tory's aren't happy over the coverage.

Regarding donations,it is hard to ascertain the true reality and there are bound to be a number of factors as to why the figure was down many of which have been mentioned here.

britian has a few mmm very well off, duke of westminster, Paul McCartney to mention just two, i wonder if they put there hands in there pockets for any charities...why would anyone one person need
100 million and over.
