...anyone know how to make the links in an email work. If I receive a link or advert, I can not open them by simply clicking them.
Thanks in advance.

a crude way, if the links are not perceived as links but instead as text, is to copy all the text that looks like a link and paste it into the address bar in a web browser.

sometimes the text may span more than one line like this..

so be sure to copy all the text

Thanks but that's what I have to do now, I was looking to change the settings in some way so I didn't have to do that. Also, this does not work with links that are in fact pictures, adverts etc.
it sounds like your email seetings are making your emails appear as text only.
I know that some web sites allow you to view their pages as text only, which is a feature you can switch off and on, but dont know how to change defaults for email views, that would probably depend on which email system you use. you may have to ask your email provider.. which of course you may already have tried but to no avail.
if its a web based email provider you use, hotmail and yahoo both allow links/pictures in email, so you could consider swapping to them.
oops, sorry just saw you said you use outlook express!! I will have a look for you sometime.
