Am I wrong in thinking that a dashcam should record your driving continuously on a loop system overwriting previous recordings until an incident requires you to view the latest journey’s recording?
Mine still stops recording when the disk is full and only works when I delete the current data. It is set to loop and it makes no difference whether the G sensor is on or off. It records in 5 minute sections but it does not record all the time. If I need a recording it’ll be pot luck. Whether the recording will be there or not. I’ve had the dash cam replaced once and it’s still not doing what the loop is intended to do.
The dash cam was professionally fitted and instead of connecting to the cigar lighter it has a direct power source. Could that possibly make any difference I wonder?
If your dashcam does not record all the time I would suspect the power supply. The fitter will have picked up power from a use somewhere and, if the connection is not sound, the power to the dashcam could keep failing. It's worth getting whoever fitted it to check the wiring.
