I have a principality savings account which I’ve had since before 18 so it’s classed as a child’s account. However I am now 23 and don’t have any contact with my mother and I cannot access my money without her signature to change it form a child’s account. My mother is refusing to sign it but it’s my savings that I’ve saved for a mortgage deposit which I now need as I’ve got an mortgage accepted. What do I do?

Have you been to the bank with ID? My children's accounts were changed over to them once they were 18, and although I was with them, the bank never asked for my authorisation. Whose name is it actually in?
The first thing I'd do is to put my problems at their door....

Yes it’s in my name but they will not change it over without my mother’s signature, I even took my passport and book over but they still said they need her signature, even though it’s always been my account only my mother can get money out of it but I can put money in.
Are you only 23, Bob?
The account should no longer be a 'child's account' anyway. It should be an Instant Access account. (See link).

Firstly, try to establish whether the account was set up on a 'signatory' basis or a 'trustee' one. Next read through the information here to see what you mother's duty in respect of the account is:

Then get a solicitor to write to your mother, advising her of what she's required to do and indicating that you'll seek a court order to compel her to do so if necessary.
Ok, malaga. I put the children's accounts in their names, with me as trustee. Look online for their actual terms on the account you have.

Well, a previous question started " My son's partner......"

Bednobs. She, the mother has told the account holder she’s not allowing him access to withdraw the money, The account holder has deposited money for years themselves . And now requires it to purchase a house. The mother hasn’t payed any money into this account.
i think the best way is a charm offensive on the mum
I think you print out chris's form
I think the mum is a trustee
arrange an interview with a manager at Principality
and point out there should have been a transfer of a trustee account automatically
and why not

para 6 - of chris's ref
