travel from basel in switzerland to lido de jesolo in italy

ill be 50 in 2008 and also 30th wedding anniversary, so id like to plan a trip from basel in switzerland to lido de jesolo in italy, trip will be for 3 weeks, and i want to take abot a week to get to jesolo..the trip will be by car id like to visit innsbruck in austria and brunico in n.italy then down to jesolo for a weeks stay, anyone with any experience?..is there a swiss version of travel lodge?the trip will be in may and i plan to book the hotel in jesolo well in advance but will i be able to just stop and book in on the other destinations?.im on a budget so costs to be kept as low as possible...any help will be appreciated
