Is today a special day in the Sikh Calendar? Or Muslim or Hindu for that matter?

Today is Tisha B'av, a special day in the Jewish calendar.

But nothing else as far as I know.

Further to Ethel's post... Tisha B'Av תשעה) primarily commemorates the destruction of the first and second Temples, both of which were destroyed on the ninth of Av (the first by the Babylonians in 586 B.C..; the second by the Romans in 70 A.D.).

Although this holiday is primarily meant to commemorate the destruction of the Temple, it is appropriate to consider on this day the many other tragedies of the Jewish people, many of which occurred on this day, most notably the expulsion of the Jews from Spain in 1492...

Not what I was thinking of but now I know! I wonder what the Sikhs near me are celebrating today then...
what a particular family of sikhs? a birthday or wedding perhaps?

No, different families. I spoke to 6 different people, unrelated, and they were all having parties.
Oh right! Very strange then!
