It's back tonight on BBC 2 at 9pm, and is about a Georgian house in Newcastle. The last series, with historian David Olusoga, was excellent. I'm looking forward to this.
So am I....there is an article about him/the programme in Radio times - he was brought up in a Gateshead council house ......so has a great affinity with Newcastle.
If you like reading you might enjoy this series of books by Nora Lofts : The Town House, the House at Old Vine and The House at Sunset about a house through different ages.
As usual, tonight's instalment left me wanting more.
As for the current decor, I'd prefer a bit more period detail. I liked the kitchen of another, similar house that was shown. Still had the range, etc. Loved the colourful description of Victorian kitchens with lines beetles dangling from the ceiling into the food...eek.
Anybody on AB who lives in Newcastle watch this? Are those other houses joined on to No 5 on the left, or are they some kind of factory or similar - they look unusual if they're houses.
Ah, thanks for that M. Thought they didn't look like houses, but it looks like they've been reasonably sympathetically done. I'm sure we'll find out when they were built later in the series.
