Hillsborough - The Sounds Of Sadness
7 Answers
As I've said before on here, my wife and myself went to Anfield on Monday April 17th 1989, to place some flowers in the goal mouth at the Kopp End. We were one of the first to do so. I'm a Utd fan, my wife is City, (Good combination!) but we felt we had to do this as we watched the tragedy unfold on television. I'll never forget the sounds inside the ground; the shuffling of feet on the shale track; the rustling of the cellophane holding peoples' floral tributes; the sobbing and the crying of people on the terracing. I still hear all that. As a Utd fan, I've never had the venom or bitterness towards any fans from any club. I get the rivalry. I get the banter. I get the mickey taking but I've never understood how some people can be so bad towards other fans. It's football. Thats all. The shuffling. The rustling. The sobbing. Unforgettable. But to all you Liverpool fans I say this from my wife and myself: We share your sadness and we always will. RIP The 96.
