Uk Military Bought The Wrong Tank

I saw a story about the UK military buying the wrong type of tanks. In reality, why did they buy any tanks at all? With drones and guided missiles being available now, is there really any need for tanks and fighter jets etc?

The need for tanks is postulated by military leaders and their desire for toys with max testosterone appeal. Having any military at all is urged by the military right up to ministers (in their case prompted by the military top brass plus what they think people with votes want to hear). All military considerations are heightened by the armaments industry whom politicians right up to ministers are attached to for testosterone, exports and tax income reasons. All these parties paint the picture that the UK is doomed if it does anything but posture as a major military power, an image it perpetuates largely by doing the USA's bidding. A particular demographic accepts all the militaristic arguments and keeps on about the values of yesteryear and how important it is not to change the mindset. And so on it goes....

I didn't say Tank Regiment ZM I said tank - and a Warthog is not a tank. Trust me, I work surrounded by these vehicles on a daily basis.

Of course, according to the war-mongers round here, we should all be marching up and down, feet raised very high - but why?

Empire is long gone, thank god, so why do we need such an organization? Unless it’s to keep US in our places...

Whether you see it as war-mongering or defence depends where you are on the political spectrum. Personally it is necessary defence.

Betcha the "wrong tank" school of thought(oxymoron warning) would have been screaming why didn't they buy British and support our independent economy if the MOD had foolishly purchased German Kampfpanzers.
