My car is parked on the road side outside my house. kids ride up and down the road going on and off the pavement with their bikes. can anyone tell me if their parents would be responsible if they damaged my car with their bikes ? hope someone can help.
We get the same problem round our way - kids (as young as 7 or 8 riding their minimotos up and down the pavement all evening) the police won't intervene - but if I try to stop them - I get accused of harrasment
So all that I can do is keep my car out of harms way and keep my fingers crossed that they will fall off and hurt themselves (not too badly - just enough to scare them)
You would have to be able to prove which particular child was responsible for the damage.
It would be extremely to pursue.
Incidentally, it is illegal for the minimotos to be used on a public footpath or road. For the police to refuse to act is negligent. Take photos of the children using the bikes, make written records of complaints to the police - then send the whole lot to your local newspaper. Take the slant that the police are ignoring young children endangering themselves - it's an accident waiting to happen.
i use to sell mini moto's (sorry) and when the trading standards came to see me, they told me that .......
if little boy/girl was going down the public highway on his minimoto, and he accidently struck a car or anything due to his brakes (or anything) not working, i could be sued for not selling him a MOT passable motor vehicle??
