1,When I yawn and start to eat my jaw locks and is painful to unlock. I have to hold my lower jaw to reset it. Whats up.
2. Son can only open mouth -2 finger width which limits what he eats; he only eats 2-4tea spoons food as his stomach has shrunk. He relies on IV protein. Just an update not a question.

Once when I was at work it popped out and I drive myself to a and e to get it sorted. Oh and be careful at the dentist. Let your dentist know about the problem as it can be made better/worse by how your teeth fit together...also when they say open as wide as you can.....don’t.
I am sure that woofy is spot on....spontaneous dislocation of the jaw ( tempero-mandibular joint) and her advice is good.
It could well go away on it's own within a 6 month period OR if it persists then a trip to a Facio-Maxillary surgeon may be needed to exclude osteo-arthris of the joint OR impacted wisdom tooth.
I lost track of you son........did any diagnosis come to the fore?

sqad son diagnosed with scleroderma with no known cure. His skin is leathery; not pinchable as one would for hydration monitoring. He is dependant on IVs for protein feed & blood (HIV from contaminated blood is a worry, as per news). He could only manage half a teaspoon of yogurt before he threw up sputom. Doc says (lots-a-docs from 5 hospitals) he has 5-20yrs or the body could reset itself tomorrow. From a fit 11st he is now 7st. Mentally good and positive of his care home where visitors welcome ad lib, has his van & permission to drive out during daylight after informing staff. He looks a wreck with long thin hair - he always had thick wavey hair, tho never worn long. He spends life on internet - like most of us ;) thanx for asking.
