Anyone Got Thunder?

It's like the tropics today - sun, monsoon style rain and thunder (SW London)

That's scary, jno, my granddad sheltered under a tree in a thunderstorm and the tree was hit, not him. So close.

Not here but some rain earlier...love dark dank days with torrential rain.... Now sunshine woe is me. Always need the rain we get here.....as they cry drought in the summer!

Is it true the car is one of the safest places to be?

The best experience i’ve had with lightning is in a car, in the middle of a field at about 1Am, the sky was purple for a good 5 minutes solid with lightning. It must have been directly above me

I’ve also been walking home, and after a huge roar of thunder, at the same time as the lightning went off i could smell static in the air. I’m not sure how close that means the lightning was from me, but again the sky went solid purple (this time only momentarily)
