LJ, I don't think anyone's ever decided to drive it like Beckham. I imagine 99% of the country have never seen him driving with or without a phone; if he's a role model it's on the field, not on the A1.

No gloating from me, the only people he is a true role model to in this type of incident are his children, he's admitted it and taken the punishment.

I have never worried about there being one law for the rich and another for the poor. However, i do think anyone in a political, or inspirational position should be held to very high standards. For example if the pope got a speeding fine, or was arrested for assault, it would discredit his religion. I feel when a politician or a a person with an OBE faces similar situations, they also put their credit and surrounding officials on the line.

I'm not gloating and I'm well aware of how many people use their phones while driving, I see them every day. There is absolutely no excuse for anyone not using hands free. He is in the public eye, a hero to some and knows he will be spotted wherever he goes - so why do it, he's not that thick?

I'm not gloating and I never use my mobile when driving. It is turned off and locked in the boot. Not goody-two-shoes just something I do.

Something I never do. He got caught, he pleaded guilty, sentenced, job done, but he shouldn't be held to a higher account because he's 'prestigious'. Justice has to be blind, otherwise it's not justice.
