I was very surprised to see that, on my ballot paper, the Brexit Party had been moved from the top position to second to bottom simply by putting The Brexit Party. How come The Conservative Party, The Labour Party, The Green Party et al hadn't been given the same treatment? Trying to discourage the Brexit vote perhaps?
They haven’t been moved. They’ve been appearing just above UKIP and below the Lib Dems on all lists.
Their official name (if websites are anything to go by) is thebrexitparty and that presumably is how they were registered with the electoral commission. If it’s a bad move it’s their own fault although I’m fairly sure it won’t be beyond the average voter to navigate a list of around 8 parties to find the one they want.
I noticed that too. Perhaps it''s just that they were a fairly recent addition to the list and it was overlooked that they were entered as THE Brexit Party. I'm sure it's nothing sinister.
It was just that, when I looked up information about the elections on the internet, they were at the top of the list, so I expected the same on my ballot paper. Obviously, this was not the case generally.
You may not have been looking at the official list.
Naturally the Brexit party would come first you’d think, but if they’ve been registered as The Brexit Party then on official lists they would come below parties without “The” in their name.
Apart from poor old UKIP of course.
