Getting bit confused. Have got form to renew my passport as it’s literally just ran out, and I’ve got the photos ready . But it still says I have to find someone to countersign it who needs to be a profession blah blah...
Yet my teenage son who has just done his on,one didn’t have to provide that at all.....
Someone please clarify for me x
When do I need someone to countersign a passport form?
Some passport application forms and photos need to be “countersigned” by somebody else to prove the identity of the person applying.
You will need to to get the form and one of the two photos signed if you’re applying for a:
first adult passport
first child passport
replacement for a lost, stolen or damaged passport
renewal of a passport for a child aged 11 or under
renewal of a passport if your appearance has changed and you can’t be recognised from your existing passport
Ok just spoke to son and it was his first adult passport which he did online and he sent his child one off and they never asked for a countersign......
And I’m blonde now but was brunette then, but it’s obv me!
Smow, I recently did a paper application and sent a 4 year old photo, not countersigned, with a little note to say my appearance has not changed. They knew how old the photo was because it was the same one as the 4-year-old passport I was surrendering (in my maiden name).
They charged my debit card and sent me my new passport with no quibbles.

//Don’t know what to do now lol//
Wear a Burka and let the authorities sort it out. I doubt if you will get much bother. :-)
