Dental Implants

Since I now have the front dental implants then my eye teeth and then some of the back molars are filled with mercury.

You can see the mercury between the molars - anybody have replaced their mercury fillings to the white fillings and was it painful. Thanks

I asked about white fillings to replace mercury ones. Dentist said white ones not as strong.

My daughter needed her fillings replaced with white fillings because of a medical problem. She said it was just like any other filling with local anaesthetic.

Replacing any filling with another is pretty much exactly the same as getting the filling in the first place.

that's right the filling would feel the same but I have heard they are weaker and have a tendency to fall out.

I still have mercury fillings that I had as a teenager but every white filling I ever had has long fallen out.

just seen your answer Prudie - I have mine (mercury) from when I was maybe 10 years old. Maybe get a tippex pen or something like that for teeth - just for going out mind.

I have white fillings and the larger one comes out quite often (3 times so far in 5 ish years?) and needs replacing other than that though they are just like any other filling, not more painful, just more expensive :(

How do you get on with implants, jj?

so far so good Spicerack - brilliant that I don't have to take them out, look for them in the morning (dentures), and big time forget to put them in when I am going out. That bit has been great, but they are in 4 weeks today and so the gums are still a little tender but I know they'll heal. thanks for asking Spicy

I still occasionally reach for my denture .... gone are them days :)

Over time, all my old fillings have been replaced with white fillings. If anyone looked in my mouth, they'd think I had no fillings lol :P
I'll be honest, I haven't had the problems that other people seem to have. I do recall a filling coming loose a couple of years ago - but it'd been in that long, I don't remember it being filled first time round.
