Cost Of Retaining Walls

I have seen a house I love but there is land slip as its on the side of a steep hill. How much does it cost approximately to have retaining walls built. The garden fence is approximately 100feet long. the top of the garden is approximately 20feet higher than the bottom

is it a cash purchase? I'd be checking out mortgage and insurance possibilities first but maybe you already have?

Sorry, no matter how much I loved the house I'd be looking elsewhere.

Thank-you all. It would be a cash purchase. I think i have to get a structural engineer to take a look. It is very underpriced so I dont mind spending up to £30,000 for it doing. I just dont know if I should. :(

Just thought I'd throw in a few thoughts, Mac.
Chris's post gives some good, representative figures, but, 20 feet???

I'm not saying it would necessarily amount to that, but such an undertaking would be more like civil engineering than run-of-the-mill retaining walls.

All do-able of course. A Structural Engineer is essential to design any retaining wall of this size.

I'd be inclined to ask the Engineer about the possibility of simply deepening the building's existing foundations. Could possibly work out cheaper.
