Tony Blackburn On Sounds Of The 60S This Morning
10 Answers
Anyone else notice he played an orchestral version of Bittersweet Symphony, instead of The Last Time by The Rolling Stones which he announced before and after the record played? He didn’t even notice, but presumably someone did. I like Tony and this show, but he does make a lot of mistakes in his old age

Unlike most commercial radio studios, the BBC's studios aren't 'self-drive', either at national or local level (even though there's no reason why they can't operate that way).
The guy responsible for checking that the correct disc is on the turntable, or that the correct MP3 file is lined up, is Richard Power, who produces the show.
If an incorrect track ever gets played on BBC radio it results in some additional paperwork for someone, as the 'PAB' ('programme as broadcast') document then has to be amended.
