I use the above for typing out stuff. However I have just accidentally unpinned from the taskbar so I have "lost" it.

Do I need to download it again or how can I bring it back to my taskbar. Thanks

If you have a Start Program icon on your taskbar, call that up and search for Abiword on the list of programs. When you have found what you are seeking, left click on it and you will probably see 'Pin to Taskbar'. Right click on that and you should see it on your taskbar.
...alternatively, find Abiword on Google. You will see instructions on how to download Abiword.

Book - before you posted I went to the Control and saw Abiword - however it looks very different to the one I lost but I "dragged" it down to the taskbar and it went down ok. However, when you click on to it is asking you a question. Something like do you want an unknown publisher to allow this. Something like that. I was afraid to say yes or no so just closed it down.

oh do I need to download it again - I thought it might be hiding somewhere LOL

when I google to download there are loads and when i click onto one of them - they lead me to all sorts. I am not tech savvy so don't know wht to do.
The application will still be stored unchanged on your hard drive and all that has happened is that you have removed the "short-cut" to opening it. Depending on which operating system you are using (Windows something, Ubuntu/Linus, Mac OS, etc.) you should have access somewhere to a list of resident applications (as bookbinder said, for example in "Start" in Windows). Find Abiword and open it (usually this will simply by clicking on it). Once it is opened you should then have somewhere a way to mark it on the taskbar. Post the name of your operating system here (including version) and someone will advise you specifically regarding it.

Right. I am able to get into Control Panel and as I said earlier I dragged the Abiword icon down to the taskbar.

My last Abiword looked just like an "A". This one I have dragged has the "A" sitting on a green box.

When I click onto it.

this is what it says.

///Do you want to allow the following program from an unknown publisher to make changes to this computer

Program Name abiword-setup-2.8.6exe
Publisher Unknown
File Origin Hardware on this computer

Yes No////

I am afraid to hit the yes in case it knocks off the computer.

Hurray - hit windows key - just done what Spath said - started to randomly type Abiword and there it came up and I said pin to taskbar. There it is.

Thanks everybody for your help.
Well done JJ.

Now...

Hit windows key

Search "Uninstall"

Click "uninstall programs from this computer" (or similar)

Find the Abiword that you DO NOT want, and click on it, then "uninstall" it
JJ you will need to uninstall and reinstall. My favourite is OpenOffice
Glad you are sorted, does't sound like you need to uninstall anything.
