My son was as a local beauty spot which has a lake, and because of the hot weather it was packed. He was high on one of the cliffs surrounding the lake when he realised a guy was in trouble. He dived in, managed to get to him and drag him to shore. Medics were called but the guy was ok. Son very very shook up but am so proud of him.

Smow but seriously knife crime seems to be reported daily now, life cant be that cheap, but unfortunately it is.

Well done that young man. You should be proud of him too. I'm sure you are. He's a credit to you. Not quite the same thing, but I like to think I saved a teenager from possible difficulties one summer evening on the golf course some time ago. He was with a friend at the side of a pond late in the evening, sun below the horizon, when he started taking his clothes off and passing them to his friend. I asked him what was going on and he said he'd been fishing there earlier and had dropped his wallet in the water, that had £30 in it, and he was going to dive in and look for it. I warned him strongly not to do so as he could possibly get cold water shock, which is one major killer in hot weather. I asked him not to do it. His life was worth more than £30 and | didn't want to be at an inquest where his parents might hear me say I asked him not to go in. He had few words with his mate, got dressed and left without saying anything. Did I save his life perhaps?

Quite a few people have died over the weekend because of cold water shock.

I have seen 2 deaths in ponds on that golf course, both young men full of lager, unaware of the dangers of cold water shock. We see enough reminders about it at this time of year don't we? But some peolpe think it won't happen to them. Fortunately for this person, your brave boy was at hand and alert to the situation. I hope he gets an award for his bravery.
