Are They Really Worth It?

Personally, I would like to see some fresh 'talent?' across the presenting spectrum. Rylan Clark-Neal has been a breath of fresh air. And new presenters would save the BBC a fortune!!

In answer to the OP - an unequivocal 'No'! I've never seen all but one of them on TV - or heard them on radio. Having done a bit of research I'm baffled about what Claudia W actually does, never mind the others. Gary Lineker - I simply can't stand him, using his fame to make political points ( I've not bought Walkers crisps for years because of him). Unacceptable...

I did, bedknobs, it's a mildly entertaining programme - if you like that sort of thing. (Kept catching bits of it at my sister's - she likes it.) Not exactly heavy, serious research and dangerous news reporting or presenting years of historical or scientific research, is it? All I really know about her is that the poor woman's child was badly burned by a dress (so she is naturally campaigning about that - as would anyone) and that she has a ridiculously long fringe. She didn't sound too extraordinarily entertaining to me on the occasions when I have heard her.
I love Claude, she is so much fun.
Having said that it's almost impossible to quantify worth and value in the TV/Radio stakes.
You pay top dollar to those who bring in the viewers and listeners.
There is new fresh talent coming through but they won't appear on the top earners list just yet - we can complain about them a few years from now.

'One of the issues the BBC has is keeping its presenters from being lured away by higher salaries in the commercial sector. '
Really ?
The commercial sector are lining up to poach these people ?
I very much doubt it .
Cut their unjustified high salaries and see how many walk into another similar or higher paid job
They know which side their bread is buttered
I was surprised to see Louise minchin
( probably spelt incorrectly ) gets paid more than Naga Munchety ( almost certainly spelt incorrectly )

i think what theland means is, we are now mired in an atmosphere
of political correctness, x media company needs x amount of ethnics
or they are obviously racist if they don't, or have been, the new world order says this is the new thinking, think the right thoughts, or...
i always thought one got the job on merit, now merits out the window.

No, many are not worth it and non on that list.
Time the licence fee was removed and then lets see who remains!
As for comparing the tax payer funded BBC with private money making orgs - you cant. If Boris, or any one else, does not bring in the advertising revenue they are lobbed out - pronto.
Doesnt happen at the Bloated Broadcasting Corp though if your a luvvie its a job for live no matter how awful you are.
