SE?E. It looks like “ sere” but I can’t see what that has to do with the free house or exactly. Thanks for any help!

Only thing I can come up with is - r(rarely) inside (hou)SE E(xactly)

Thanks dannyk13 the normal spelling of it would be sear so even sere is a bit obscure for a crossbar clue but it is all I can find. Will try it anyway. Thanks again.

I thought that 'rarely" indicated that it was an obsolete or unusual spelling. but I can't parse the rest of it. Can't think what else it could be though.
Maybe exactly is SEE, put the R in for rarely.
I think that it's a really poor clue.
