I have a thingy that you type sentences in and it translates into any major language. I’m just about to throw it out as we now have Google Translate.

Google translate can give some really funny results.

My accent isn't too strong but there is no guarantee that I would be understood.

Google Translate is pretty much useless, not just at individual words but at even the simplest phrases and idioms.

E.g. if you ask it to translate "j'ai pris mon pied" into English, it blithely offers "I took my foot".

Jim, I was trying to be tactful.

I bought a water fountain for Frankie, it has little jets of water that are supposed to encourage him to drink.

It was made in China and the instructions were in gibberish. The pictures were very vague. They must have used Google as a translating tool.

The fountain works but I, initially, wasn't convinced that putting an electric pump in a dish of water would end well.
