Card Payment Taken Twice By Store
16 Answers
Really don’t quite know what’s happened but I went into a local corner shop two days ago - it literally is the corner shop- and I paid £18.99 by contactless card. Didn’t get a receipt - I was in a hurry and I’ve been going in there for at least 10 years with never an issue.
I’ve checked my online banking yesterday and the exact amount has come out twice, within seconds. I’ve rang the shop and he says I must have popped back and bought again!! Of course I didn’t. But he isn’t budging. Any bright ideas or shall I just accept its lost and never use them again?

There shouldn't be a problem with your not having a receipt. On the UK Cards Association website it says,
"For contactless payments for £30 and under, a receipt will not automatically be printed for you. However, you can always ask for a receipt, and the retailer must give you one if you ask. For contactless payments over £30, the retailer must always print a receipt for you."
