I must be more ignorant of British politics than I thought,
Nicholas sturgeon going on and on about independent Scotland instead of getting on with the running of the country,
She wants independence for Scotland,wants to join the EU,so where is the independence there?if she helps to force a general election and we are landed with Corbyn and Abbott total disaster for everyone.

what i've been saying for years, Nicola wants different dependence. Even if she gets independence she wont get in the EUSSR because Spain and France will veto because they wont want to set a precedent for the Basques and Catalans

think of those cruel comments as spaff chaff ( good huh?) and ignore - they are just more one liners in the style of the first and highly amusing for some.
I treasure them but it is NOT done to mine the rich veins of stupidity by accessing them anew, and using copy and paste. Nigh - stupid man ! ( well it is possible)

TTT - yes, when Scotland becomes an independent nation then the job of the SNP will be done. They will then probably change their name and will have to stand against Labour, the Tories, Lib Dems etc at future general (Scottish) elections. However, one of their main tasks at the moment is to keep Scotland in Europe - not governed by them but in partnership.
I would have thought it is a very simple concept to grasp - but some people either can't, or wilfully won't.
If Scotland gains independence, which I'd personally like, then;
1. They will not, as some people seem to assume, still remain a member of the EU.
2. They will need to apply and meet the financial requirements - given Scotland rely financially on England, this is unlikely.
3. In the event they do meet the financial requirements, it is likely (as has already been pointed out) that France and Spain will veto.
4. Even if they become a member of the EU in their own right, and it is bloody big if, they will be required to follow the EU's rules and regs.......and will therefore not be independent.
Pretty simple really, but when these very simple points get pointed out, there's a few AB scots (they know who they are) who get very prissy about the whole thing...and on this very thread one of them has called for the removal of a post. Pathetic doesn't even begin to cover that.
