One For Sqad - Or Anybody Who Has Had 'trigger Finger'
8 Answers
Middle finger, right hand, locking up, usually first thing in the morning and, more recently, stiff at other times of the day - 'stenosing tenosynovitis' as I believe it is called. Any advice on treatment or to reduce the effect of it?
Thanks.......

I had one of those into my wedding finger after my 6 year old's friend had put a boot lace around her bike tyre. The only way was to cut it off with a surgical scissor and, with the pressure it was under, it shot forward into my left wedding finger, a similar feeling of being collared. My doc out there MRIed it (in the practice) and then a steroid and no issue.
The feeling in the base of my right middle finger is similar and I have to work through it (a little pain) to release it, the tendon feeling a little sore all day now. Hence the question to relief and if there is anything I can do without steroids......

Sounds like Duypuytrens contracture to me ...early stages just affecting the middle finger.
Not much you can do at the moment except perhaps taking Ibuprofen.
However if you have difficulty in picking things up e.g your cup then see your GP.
I suppose that you could try injection of cortisone.......but i wouldn't......Xiapex is the treatment of choice.....and injection into the affected area.
