Also go into 'View your profile' to check that it's still enabled there. Some AB members have reported that their avatars don't show unless they've given them a 'G' rating on the Gravatar website. (Gravatar uses the US film classificati on system, where their 'G', for 'general' is the equivalent of our 'U', for ' universal'). However I can't actually recall...
