Hi ab'ers, i have had tinnitus for 40+ years. There is a temporary method which involves flicking your index fingers to the base of your skull at the back of your head. The tinnitus increases then fades away. I get about 1/2 hour silence. Check out this youtube demo.
Give it a try, nothing to lose.
Another method i've yet to try is vapo rub just under your nose (not inside!) that's supposed to open sinuses. I don't think you necessarily need to have a cold although my tinnitus does worsen when I'm under the weather. Good luck.
