That bit was strange. If he was literally snached from the mother then she would have known where her son was. I think the reporting may be little inaccurate.

She might have been holding his hand. 6 year olds let go of their parents hands all the time so initially you might not panic, just turn to take their hand back...and he was gone.

It was reported the perpetrator of this evil act was heard to blame Social Services. He had been acting odd in the lounge one witness told her son not to venture near him.

My levels of sad probably don't compare to the boys mother. But yes, it is distressing thinking of such a horrible act.

Once again we try to find rational reasons for irrational behaviour, and sadly, the short answer is - there are none.

This is not the act of a rational mind - that can be stated with certainty.

The reasons around that irrationality remain to be revealed, but trying to analyse this rationally gets us nowhere except upset, so we have to sympathise, but not dwell, which helps no-one.

I know - a deep padded cell inside a very secure place such as Guantanomo Bay equivalent would be most appropriate either as a judgement or whatever section order they want to nail him with.

This from the DM explains it I suppose but not why he was out on his own. Looks like someone's got a lot to answer for. The victim is still improving.
