Podding Peas
43 Answers
I love fresh peas - straight from the pod, to the steamer, to the plate - and have just spent a happy half hour podding a bagful from Mr Aldi.
Which led me to muse about how many of 'the next generation' would know how to do this, given the often alarming level of culinary inadequacy in the yoof of today.
So - when did you last pod a pea? Could your children/granchildren do it?

He always picked too many and as a kid I loved pea and salad cream sandwich in fresh white crusty bread ( whole meal bread and mayo never made it into our house)No home freezers in those days so the neighbours benefited from the overspill.
I last podded peas last Summer. I also love them raw, especially in salads, and can never resist a few. With a bit of luck, if they've not been battered down by the latest squall, I'll be shelling peas next week and freezing some. Just about finished freezing French beans, but the broad beans are still hopping along and keeping me busy - as is boiling beetroot.
