Morning all. Bit windy today, look for horses with sails for tails maybe. :))

Not a fan of the Shergar Cup meeting at Ascot, form goes out the window and I get the distinct feeling that there is a bit of "We win this and you win that one" going on. A few non runners probably due to the forecast indicating soft ground....Especially up at Haydock. Takes more than that to put we diehards off though. Done the ITV7 and a bit of e/w on the 7 as well as my usual 4 horse proper punt. Best odds taken on all the bets.

King's Pavilion @10/1 1.55 Haydock
Indianapolis @6/1 2.15 Ascot
Sapa Inca @9/2 3.25 Ascot
Light Blush @3/1 3.45 Newmarket

£1.00 E/W Acca. 50p Doubles. 25p E/W Trebles

Add in Alfredo(25/1) 1.40 Ascot, Miss O'Connor 2.30 Haydock, & Victory Day 4.00 Ascot to make up the 7. Also done a little E/W Single on the 1.40 Ascot. Good luck if you have a punt.

Mornin', Togo, and good luck with your selections. I too am not a fan of this event. When it was first introduced, i did hope that it would be a one-off but it's the 20th anniversary of the Shergar Cup today so i guess it will still be around long after i have gone to that great bookies in the sky. The firms, who at first were rather sceptical about the whole thing, have now fully embraced it. Which, translated into 'punter-speak' means that they know it is probably one of their best days of the year. Horse and jockey are only introduced 24 hours before the race, half the riders have never set foot in England let alone ridden at a track like Ascot. We would be just as well betting on the virtual racing - both are lotteries.
That said, having decided to do the ITV7, i just felt compelled to throw a fiver at the meeting, mainly on CD winners or those who have shown up well at the track. For my main bet i have stayed up north where it may be windy and wet but, on the whole, horse and rider are not complete strangers;

1.55 Hay; Mayfair Spirit @ 5/1
2.55 Red; Mutaraffa @ 6/1
3.40 Hay; Last Empire @ 5/1
4.15 Hay; Spirit Power @ 10/3

Win singles, 20p Lucky 15, £1 e.w. acca. 4 placed = £16, 4 winners = £1,526.

ITV7; What A Welcome*, Mayfair Spirit, Koeman, Miss O'CVonnor, Vivid Diamond*, Dark Lady and Pass The Vino. £1 e.w. acca.

Add Danzeno and Power Of Darkness to the 2 * and i've done a lucky 15 e.w. acca on those 4 - poss returns = £10 & £765.

Gonna look for some freebies on the football, now.
Never liked it either.

Had worse days. 4 out of the 7 came in and I managed to snaffle £64 clear with a judicious cash out on a cover bet and a little 4 timer. Push my luck on The Fiddler 4.35 Ayr, Wise Counsel 4.45 Haydock, & Desert Icon 4.55 Newmarket. Trixie.
Not a bean, this end, Togo. Well done with yours. Only thing i got right all day was a £3.88 bet on Spurs to win 3-1 @ 10/1 - returned £45.60. Both my Fantasy Football teams did alright, though. And, in the real world, the Clarets had a super start to the new season. Don't care how i do on the nags on a Sat as long as Burnley collect 3 points :-)

My fantasy footie teams did well too Ken. Problem is that the better scoring one didn't go through last night when the site crashed and when it went through today omitted the 50 odd points that it scored last night. Ahh well said the soul. Got your goalie in one team .
